Training: Successful completion of an approved residency in Pediatrics. Certification of training and of competency shall be made by the applicant's Program Director.
This category shall include infants that are moderately ill. Infants should be at least
32 weeks post conceptual age. Some examples of these patients are:
" Infants with respiratory distress requiring less than 60% oxygen and clinically improving
* Infants requiring an evaluation to rule out sepsis
* Infants with sepsis who are stable
* Infants with hypoglycemia requiring IV therapy, but not requiring a central line
* Infants of chemically dependant mothers who may be experiencing withdrawal, but not having seizures
* Infants with congenital anomalies that are not life threatening
* Premature stable growing infants
When doubt exists as to the diagnosis, or in cases in which improvement to treatment is not soon apparent, consultation should be obtained from a pediatric sub-specialist. Those privileges addressed in Category I are included within Category II.
