CATEGORY IV: Administration of general anesthesia for all surgical procedures requiring a general anesthetic. This involves proficiency in the use of inhalation and intravenous general anesthetic agents, muscle relaxants, establishment of an airway, and the monitoring of appropriate vital signs in children and adults.
CATEGORY V: Management of advanced respiratory and cardiovascular support in both the operative setting and critical care areas: endotracheal intubation, complex ventilator management (FIO2 greater than 50%, Ventilator pressures greater than 35 cm & Prolonged mechanical ventilation greater than three days), invasive monitoring, clinical management of various fluids, electrolyte and metabolic disturbances, management of problems in cardiac and respiratory resuscitation in children and adults.
